dbf (aka: dBASE) is a standard binary file format that the BASIC MV REPORT method uses as a data source for Excel pivot tables. dbf files can hold up to two terabytes of data utilizing up to 255 columns. These files make an excellent data source for Excel as each column is specified as text or numeric. Excel pivot table templates can be refreshed against updated dbf files while retaining all formatting.
